Para-Psychology I
Winter 2025
8-Week Hybrid: In-person and remote
Facilitator: Dr. Rhian Daniel
Have you ever wished you were psychic, had ESP, or a strong intuition? All these skills are part of the field of para-psychology, and often referred to as paranormal. Para, from the Greeks, meaning “alongside”. This implies that at some point, someone decided these skills were not normal. This is 100% false. These skills are innate, and normal.
It is arguable that these skills are more normal than any spoken language. We see children talking and playing with invisible friends, well before mastering a language or even walking! Para-psychological patterns and behaviors are observable even today in traditional Indigenous cultures, and are also easily found in traditional European cultures, as with my own family’s Italian and French background.
These are all significant skills we are born with, but diminish rapidly because we neglect them; similarly to the atrophy of muscle if we don’t use them. Use it, or lose it, as the saying goes.
This course is designed to awaken these skills.

“No one spoke, for to the Lakota, words were not an advanced form of communication”
Sansom Flood, R. (1995). Lost bird of Wounded Knee: Spirit of the Lakota. p.76. Scribner.
This passage speaks volumes about the intrinsic indigenous understanding of para-psychology. I experienced the same “silence” many times amongst Australian Aborigines, and learnt quickly that significant, authentic, communication was occurring during the “silence”.
Course Purpose
The purpose of this course is to awaken and mature your para-psychological skills (intuition, psychic, ESP, etc). The process requires active participation, NOT just observation. Because developing skills is the focus of this class, active participation and practice is essential, particularly outside of class time (homework)–you cannot just be a spectator and expect your skills to develop. The academic portions are minimal, with the intention of providing some information and understanding about the skills and topics we’ll be exploring and practicing.
NOTE: Depending on scheduling, there is the potential for a Sunday field trip to a local location to observe and experience individuals demonstrating aspects (skills) of para-psychology.
Course Requirements
- No previous experience is required to join this class, BUT enthusiasm is.
- An eye mask (Nothing fancy; even one the airlines give you when you’re flying long-haul).
- Participation – The process is progressive–Each class builds on the previous, and your skills develop in the same manner, progressively.
- Skills will be practiced each week, in-person and remotely.
- Skills will be practiced with other members of the class (and possibly external, non-group, volunteers).
- Because we work with each other, it is imperative that you are present for all classes.
- As your skills develop, it will become more and more difficult to “hide” things from other group members providing readings you.
Having said that:
- Discernment and confidentiality are imperative and required.
- DO NOT read for someone without their permission.
- There are rules and boundaries when conducting a reading, which you will learn.
